Check your local fire code! PVC jacketed cable is for general purpose use. It cannot be used in air returns unless enclosed in conduit. A plenum rated jacket is generally required for use in any area used for air return, many dropped ceilings, air ducts and in public buildings. Fire codes vary from area to area. If unsure which you need, check with your local Fire Marshall.
